I'm Just Saying…

When TV Cures All

October10

not only have i not blogged all week but that whole getting up really early and writing every morning – yeah, that didn’t happen either.  not once.  my only excuse is that i’ve had quite a week and rather than revisit, rehash, relive it – let’s talk about something else: are you watching THE GOOD WIFE?

when the new tv season started i swore i wouldn’t pick up any new shows (i mean with the exception of GLEE but it could be argued that it was a carry over from last year…right?).  but then somehow THE GOOD WIFE ended up on my DVR (i wonder how that happened) and on thursday night, when my stress level was like somewhere around my ears, i watched the first two episodes.  OH MY GOD.  again, i don’t need another show but here’s what i’m thinking…it’s sorta like all my shows combined into one – minus the elimination challenge.

in case you haven’t caught an episode yet, here’s an overview:

  • JULIANNA MARGULIES (so glad she’s back on tv…her eyebrows are TDF!) plays the wife of a district attorney in chicago who was just sent to jail for corruption – oh and he was also caught having sex with a prostitute.  in order to support her family – julianna now goes back to work – as a defense lawyer
  • she’s working in the law firm of a law school friend who is now a managing partner (i think that’s the term) and there’s clearly sexual tension.  the other managing partner is a woman who feels threatened by julianna (who wouldn’t?).  there’s also a young, cocky, lawyer who used to be on GILMORE GIRLS who teaches julianna how the work world has advanced in the last 15 years since she’s been out of the game raising her family – in other words, he teaches her how to google.  she’s supported in her lawerly efforts but this feisty, sexy, investigator of unknown sexy, feisty, ethnic origin.
  • the cases, are “ripped from the headlines”
  • oh and CHRIS NOTH, the former district attorney who is now in jail, is feeding his wife information that can help her case. oh and really, this character could be played by no one else
  • the NEW district attorney, who is responsible for exposing CHRIS NOTH, sucks at life.
  • and somehow JULIANNA and CHRIS’s children, who are like 10, are doing some investigating on their own and are learning that maybe their dad isn’t as guilty as he appears to be.

it’s so good.  i still have the most recent episode to watch – sounds like a perfect way to spend a foggy afternoon.

in other tv news – when i got home for a work event last night (anyone else so glad SUKKOT is over?!) ABN and watched JIM and PAM’s wedding.  i laughed i cried – it was phenomenal.

i know – i need to get out more.  but remember – i had quite a week.  i should really just curl up with the final book of TWILIGHT and call it a day.
