Shut Up and Let me Go – Hey!
my stomach is uber ready for passover to be over. i’m having a cacophony of symptoms, some of which are expected during the week of mostly matzah and some of which seem – more of surprise? i’ll stop there. most likely diet coke from a fountain would help things but i haven’t yet found a place near work that sells them. dc from a bottle only seems to make things worse – in general. so instead last night i drank most of a bottle of red wine – red wine always helps to relax the bloat
the bloating/cramping could also be explained by the mess that i fear the camp schedule is for the summer ahead. i know i’ve been spoiled by my two camp experiences: 1. being hilltop where we did nothing so, you know, it was a fairly basic schedule as evidenced by the fact that rest hour and shower hour were my favorite parts of the day, and 2. the jcc/nyc where JOSH ran a tight ship and juggled a million things (children/activities) at once. in SF we are laid back, or so i’m constantly told (which is funny if you know me because laid back is exactly what i am not) and so that seems to apply to the camp calendar as well. sessions start and end throughout the season with little rhyme or reason. which is not only hard to keep straight but leads to things like significantly higher staffing and room needs one week and then fewer the next. rinse and repeat – but only half. does that make sense? if not, that’s the point.
the good news is i feel like i have clear answers for how to make this better (WWJD?!) – the bad news is i have to wait until summer 2010 because one can’t just start over again at the end of april. so for now i have to do things not my way, while keeping copious notes (aka my camp manifesto) for next summer.
in other news, i don’t think i’ve mentioned my “side job” on this here space before, but, well, i’ve got one. and i love it. it started post PN and pre-camp and if being a camp director is living the dream than being my own version of “matchmaker” AND a camp director is living on fantasy island. i make just a little dough on the side (which i refer to as my “honey money” – why? i don’t know! – which i save up to buy boots) but that’s not the point. the point is, i’m learning about a business/field that i would have never known anything about, and and families too . its fascinating. i think it just proves – you never no where a 48 hour trip to boston will take you.
and did i mention – tomorrow night i’m eating sushi, drinking beer and seeing the TING TINGS!!!???:
Thank you

Should be a fun show. My 2 year old daughter broke out into “that’s not my name” the other day in an H&M dressing room. I must remember to start taking a camcorder everywhere I go…. Enjoy!
that’s awesome! and the show was hysterically fun. they basically just played the album through start to finish which was fnie by me. the best part (other than screaming hey! at the right moments) is that the fillmore in SF gives out free posters for each and every show. A-MAZ-ING!
