I'm Just Saying…

It’s Sort of the Fantasy Fully Realized

February15

two things…
1. i got the job! i’m beyond ecstatic and also a bit terrified. its a big job and its basically my dream job (and when i say dream, basically i’ve been wanting this job since like the 4th grade!) and i can’t believe that i’ve reached this stage in my life – i mean, i feel like there is no question in my mind, you have to be a grown up to have this job. and so i guess that makes me a grown up. and that makes me sweat. a lot. as of march 16th i will be the manager of camp and family programs at the [REDACTED]. that’s right, i run a camp! how freaking amazing is that?! and it’s my camp! they may as well call it CAMP LBN!!! there are about 275 kids in camp at a time, serving about 800+ kids a summer…holy hell (scratch, scratch, scratch). as CURLY said, when i told her i got the job, you can do this, you’ve been a camp director your entire life, now you will just get paid for it!…more later i’m sure. but for now…yay camp! there’s family programming too…but no one is really sure what that looks like, which i guess is part of the job…yay!

2. ABN and i do not celebrate valentines day (because…barf!) but we did have a date night last night and because we were sort of celebrating (two salaries is a really exciting prospect!…first call – the cleaning lady – she’s coming twice a month!)we started by popping the champagne. i think its funny that we have so many beautiful wine glasses (its possible we have 4 sets of 12) and no champagne flutes. when registering for our wedding i was very anti flutes because, well, when do we drink champagne? but now i sorta get that for the few times you do drink champagne, it would be nice to have them. since i bought berries for my breakfast, i dropped them in our drinks – i’m cute like that.

then i made homemade spanikopita. philo dough is a bitch and so there are no pictures. they tasted much better than they looked. but you can see the yummy filling. i argue that while delicious, one should not serve spanikopita at a wedding because it is inevitable that someone will end up with spinach stuck in their teeth for the duration of the reception. i have found that many brides make this mistake. in the safety of your own home…enjoy the hell out of them!
rosemary garlic sweet potato fries (with potatoes from our farmer’s market) and a blue cheese dipping sauce (i will be making that again)
yummy rosemary nuts – my mom makes these and ABN always gobbles them up
and french onion soup. for my shower i was given onion soup bowls (what 27 year old has her own onion soup bowls) so it was time to break them out…yummy and lots of left overs.

i also made chocolate souffle but we were too full so we’re saving that for tonight. is it okay to keep souffle for 24 hours uncooked in the fridge? i’m going with yes. stop me if there is concern for our health and safety.

so yeah, lots to report from san fran. we’re taking it slow today…its raining and i haven’t yet decided if i’m going to venture out to hit the gym – i’m counting down the days until i get to call the gym at work home!
