I Write Therefore I Read..Or Something
i currently have 185 items in my google reader. i find this to be extremely stressful. i think part of the reason i find it so stressful is that it’s easier to focus on the things i haven’t read rather than the fact that i haven’t received a call for a second interview for the dream job (it’s currently 2:52pm…she said she would call on tuesday. mragh) or the fact that i’ve had a miserable stomach ache for the last three days. i choose to be stressed by my unread items, how can you blame me.
in the past i would have simply skimmed through the reader, watching, wide-eyed as the words of some of my favorite writers whizzed by…way to quickly for me to possibly digest. i would feel guilty for not being up to date on the latest happenings but at the same time, felt that i could pass myself off as being up to date.
but today i decided to turn over a new leaf – there’s a reason i decided to subscribe to each of these bloggers and i owe it to them (them…they don’t even know i exist for the most part) to read and comment. i’m going to be an active reader. i have the time now (since i’m not really working – my new efforts include actively reading blogs, going to the gym and cooking – sounds like a nice life, no?). so it’s taking more time – but if you’re writing, i’m reading! (and if you are looking for suggestions of some of my favorites, check out MY ADDICTIONS…new additions soon!).
time to eat something…and check my cell phone (i put it on the other side of the apartment so i wouldn’t stare at it, waiting for it to ring. until later, keep on reading…
Thank you

I too, have taken it upon myself to stop stalking and start commenting to those that I read. I enjoy your blog and hope that the second interview goes well for you.
Sometimes my google reader gets so full it just says “1000+” (not registering anything higher than 1000). Every time it happens, I throw up a little bit in the back of my mouth.
