You pay a monthly fee and pick up the car (I think it was a VW bug) whenever you need it from a gas station or someplace like that, and just return it when you're done! It's kinda like Netflix for cars!<br/>As for the driving to LA thing, rental cars are SO cheap these days. I used to do that every time I'd take a trip to LA. I can’t remember the name of it, but there’s this rental car service in SF that my friends used to do that is awesome.
