I'm Just Saying…

The Hills are Alive with the Sound of me, Being out of Breath!

July21

today i almost died.  seriously the hills here are going to kill me.  it all started because i wanted to check out a new neighborhood – cole valley.  all sounded innocent enough, right?  i checked directions on google maps before venturing out, my books on san fran don’t go into enough detail to cover little neighborhoods like cole valley.  so after i checked and sent the map to my iphone (i really am that cool!) i took off.  an hour later as i huffed and puffed my way up 17th street, cursing the city, the day i was born, ABN for bringing me here, sweat dripping from my brow (and soaking through my tshirt and sweatshirt – after all its 57 degrees out today) i immediately started thinking there better be another way to get home, because there was no way in hell i was turning around and doing the reverse off all of this – i clearly could see myself tumbling all the way down.  who planned this city?  and you know that old saying, what goes up must come down?  i am learning in sf that is not always the case…you can go up up up and more up.  and down isn’t necessarily better anyway…my ass may be loving all this but my knees are another story!

eventually, fearing that if i stopped i would die, i made my way through cole valley (apparently san francisco and i have a different definition of the word valley) and found my way to haight-ashbury.  here i found a little coffee shop and have spent the last hour + researching alternative routes to get home.  it’s a good thing this apartment has a washer/dryer because with the amount of walking/sweating i am doing, this would otherwise be costing me a small fortune.
